Lions Roar with Leeyo's Help

Along with a well-orchestrated revenue cycle, there’s not much the founders of Leeyo Software love more than the competition of sports and ability to support their community.

Both activities came to fruition recently as the USA Lions, a San Francisco Bay Area-based youth field hockey club sponsored by Leeyo, earned multiple gold medals at the California Cup tournament in Los Angeles over the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

The parent- and volunteer-run club, with more than 70 children ranging in age from five to 16, participates in tournaments throughout California, Arizona, the East Coast and Canada. It was quite an achievement for all of the club’s participating teams to medal at the prestigious “Cal Cup,” the largest US tournament of its kind now in its 45th year. The four-day event has grown to feature 150 teams in 14 divisions with participating countries including Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Holland, Spain, Taiwan and India.

“It was very gratifying to see these kids at such a young age work hard and achieve their goals,” said club manager Bobby Shoker, noting the children, most of whom are between 6-10 years old, rise up at 7am every Sunday rain or shine and stay late into weekday evenings for practice throughout the year.

“I hope this will make them better humans as they grow up and they will feel confident that they can achieve anything in life as long as they put in the effort,” said Shoker, VP of Finance at cloud security startup, Netskope, when not guiding the field hockey stars of tomorrow.

A hearty “Congratulations” to all those associated with the USA Lions!
