Zuora’s Commitment to Anti-Racism and Equality

This is the time to be indignant, enraged even, over injustice. There is a segment of our society, and therefore a part of our ZEO community, that faces daily injustices, often life-threatening.

The facts are clear: George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Sean Reed, Breonna Taylor, Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Philandro Castile, Michael Brown, Freddie Gray, Walter Scott, Tamir Rice, Sandra Bland, Jonathan Ferrell, Oscar Grant. The list goes on. And at some point, you have to say, enough is enough.

For this is not just an issue for Black people in the U.S., it is an issue for us all. “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” We all want to live in a world where we know systemic injustices are being rooted out. And that means when one of our groups hurt, we all hurt, and we all stand together for each other.

ZEOs have come together on the side of justice, as enemies of hate, and as allies to our Black community. We are taking the time to listen and understand. Learning from our Zuora Black Network about what it means to be an Ally and making all voices heard.

We recognize this work is larger than Zuora, and requires both immediate and sustained effort. It is our collective responsibility to create change, and we are committed to doing the work. These are the initial actions we are taking as a company:

  • Support organizations against injustice. Zuora.org has made donations to Black Lives Matter, NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, local protest bailout funds, and organizations fighting against racial injustice. Our Community Impact grant cycle ended on June 1st and we are pleased that the majority of the nominees provide direct service to the Black and LatinX communities.
  • Honor Juneteenth globally. Zuora has decided to make Juneteenth (June 19) a global corporate holiday for all employees. Juneteenth commemorates the effective end of slavery in the United States and is a reminder of the continued effort required to uphold a legacy of freedom. We’re doing this to drive awareness to our society’s critical issues and provide Zuora employees globally with what they need to reflect and express themselves at this time. Zuora is committed to doing everything we can to combat systemic racism in solidarity with our Black community.
  • Progress diversity and inclusion at Zuora. With focused recruiting efforts, fair and equitable talent processes and ongoing evaluation of our policies and processes, we remain committed in our efforts to achieve equitable representation for underrepresented ZEOs throughout our organization. We are partnering closely with our Employee Resource Groups and experts in the field to further inform our strategy with a focus on understanding, education and driving systemic change. This includes more visibility into our current profile of employees, holding ourselves accountable at every level and continuing to build an inclusive, empathetic culture where all ZEOs can think, do and be themselves.

Zuora is a family – we support our members of various backgrounds – and we are committed to progress as an anti-racist company.
